Camagu Colloquium on Mama Winnie

You’re cordially invited to the CAMAGU COLLOQUIUM: CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF WINNIE MADIKIZELA MANDELA THROUGH STORYTELLING.

The event is hosted by Free State Wombman In Theatre in collaboration with the Mandela Legacy. Our organizations see it pertinent to give platform to narratives that celebrates the late struggle icon’s life’s, Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela, through storytelling.

As we commemorate the 1st year of Mama’s passing, we want to bring female story tellers under one roof to share different approach on preserving the legacy of Mama Winnie. Through this colloquium we want to inspire and better the lives of women Mama left behind.

The panelists of the event will vary from women that have enormous experience in theatre, television, literature and journalism. The primary objective of the colloquium is to CELEBRATE Mama Winnie as the custodian of our heritage and to inspire story tellers own and tell their narratives and not wait for someone to tell them.

Selected participants who are mainly based in the Free State, will have an opportunity to interact and engage with high esteemed panelists within the industry from across South Africa. The event will be fused with various performances and exhibitions that pay tribute to Mama.

The colloquium will culminate to a series of workshops which will take place over a period of 5 months. Capacity building workshops which will be facilitated by revered mentors will cover fields of storytelling such as script writing, acting, directing, poetry and funding workshops. The capacity building workshops are curated to benefit artist in the Masilonyane District.

The colloquium will be held at the Township Hall in Brandfort from the 26th to the 28th of April 2019, between 9:30 to 18:00. The dress theme is all black.
