LOVE, CRIME & JOHANNESBURG is a musical comedy that takes us into the heart and mind of post-apartheid South Africa. The play tells a story of a people’s poet and struggle hero Jimmy ‘Long Legs’ Mangane (Tk Da’poet) who is imprisoned for bank robbery.
While in prison, he suffers the pain of many freedom fighters: his comrades, like his friend Bones (John Paka), have now become the ruling elite and are advancing in the material things of life.
The play is directed by accomplished director and academic, Masedi Manenye, and stars a diverse local theatre cast. With the musical genius of Andile Qongqo, the excellence of Colourful Souls, and the beautiful choreography of Sizakele Mdi, Bloemfontein is set to experience a vibrant, moving, comic and musically rich performance.
