Thaba Nchu Producer to Rock SA Dancefloors
Thaba Nchu producer, Siphiwe Sesing, affectionately known as SWARE in deep house circles, has signed a recording deal with Gauteng-based label, Candid Beings. Under the deal, the 21 year-old Quantity Surveying student will release his EP, titled 4th Generation, on 8 July 2022.
To SWARE, this milestone of being signed by “one of South Africa’s dope deep house recording labels” is truly a blessing, given that “it all started as having fun and playing around.” Although SWARE considers himself a multitalented producer who is genre-fluid, he regards deep house as his first love, saying it pumps up his spirits when he is feeling down. “I really don’t know how to describe what it does to me but I’d say it’s an addictive drug that I’m unable to control.”
Many followers of the local dance scene may recognise SWARE’s brother, Mpho Sesing, a Cuba-trained medical doctor and deep house deejay. For obvious reasons, SWARE credits him as his music influence. He states: “I’d watch him prepare for his music gigs for hours, listening and practicing. As soon as he’d leave the room, I’d rush to the computer to actually see what he’s been doing.”
His other music influences came from the likes of Atjazz, Stimming, Jullian Gomez, Solan and many underground producers. Since then, the gifted producer and deejay has managed to define his own style of music and generate his own following using platforms such as Facebook. Not long after SWARE started mixing live on Facebook, he got feedback from ordinary music lovers, artists and big names in the industry. Although this scared him, it also led him deciding that he’ll give music production a chance.
It was also on social media that SWARE connected with ChiefJoint, with whom he worked on the 4th Generation EP. Other names he has collaborated with include Vinyl Dealer, Elvis27 and Bun Xapa, to mention a few. “I’d say my sound is kinda groovy, electronic and progressive at the same time, with a little bit of synths and bouncy basslines. I love designing synths and bass of my own, creating sounds that are different and weird but wavey.”
